15 arrested in South Texas raid, 123 gambling machines seized

South Texas law enforcement arrested more than a dozen people last week during a raid on a suspected illegal gambling operation where authorities also seized 123 gambling machines and $38,000.
The Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office carried out a search warrant Thursday on a building in the 800 block of S. 23rd St. in McAllen, arresting 15 people on a number of charges, including promotion of a gambling place and engaging in organized criminal activity.
Hidalgo and Cameron Counties in South Texas put pressure on the casinos by raiding them in 2015.

Bond amounts for those arrested range from $14,000 to $29,000. The sheriff's office is continuing its investigation into the alleged gambling operation.
